Workshop Title
"Ignite Engagement: Building a Motivated Team"
Objectives
- Identify factors contributing to low engagement.
- Reconnect team members with the team’s purpose and values.
- Develop strategies to enhance motivation and involvement.
Materials Needed
- Flipchart or whiteboard.
- Sticky notes and markers.
- Pens and paper for personal reflections.
Process
1. Welcome and Icebreaker (10 minutes)
Activity: The Highlight Reel
↳ Ask participants to share one recent personal or professional highlight.
2. Understanding Engagement (15 minutes)
Activity: What Does Engagement Look Like?
↳ In small groups, participants brainstorm what an engaged team member looks like (e.g., active in meetings, eager to contribute).
↳ Share ideas with the larger group and create a visual list.
3. Identifying Barriers to Engagement (15 minutes)
Activity: Silent Brainstorm: Why We Check Out
↳ Provide sticky notes. Participants anonymously write reasons they or others may feel disengaged (e.g., unclear goals, lack of recognition).
↳ Collect and group similar reasons on a board.
4. Reconnecting with Purpose (20 minutes)
Activity: Team Purpose Alignment
↳ Facilitate a discussion:
- What is the team’s purpose?
- How does each person’s work contribute to it?
↳ Ask participants to individually write down why their work matters and share with the group.
5. Co-Creating Engagement Strategies (20 minutes)
Activity: Building the Engagement Toolkit
↳ Divide the team into small groups. Each group brainstorms 3-5 actionable ways to boost engagement. Examples:
- Regular recognition of contributions.
- More interactive and fun meetings.
- Clearer communication of goals and progress.
↳ Groups present their ideas and consolidate into an “Engagement Toolkit” for the team.
6. Closing and Reflection (10 minutes)
Activity: Personal Engagement Goals
↳ Ask each participant to write one thing they will do to stay more engaged (e.g., “I will contribute at least one idea in each team meeting”).
↳ Share these commitments with the group.
