SCAMPER
SCAMPER is a structured creative thinking technique that uses seven types of questions to help a group rethink an existing product, service, process, or idea. The acronym stands for Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put to other uses, Eliminate, and Reverse. Rather than staring at a blank page and hoping for inspiration, the facilitator walks the group through each lens in turn, asking targeted questions that force people to look at familiar things from unfamiliar angles.

A step-by-step breakdown of the workshop process
1Setup
Prepare the room with seven flip chart stations labeled with each SCAMPER letter, set up materials, and define the subject clearly.
2Step 1: Frame the Subject
Present the subject to ensure everyone understands what they will be working on and explain the SCAMPER framework and ground rules.
3Step 2: Generate Ideas (SCAMPER Rounds)
Use each SCAMPER lens to generate ideas, allowing 5-7 minutes per lens, while encouraging participants to write down ideas without discussion.
4Step 3: Gallery Review
Invite the group to walk around and read all ideas generated, allowing them to tick notes that catch their attention and add new ideas if inspired.
